As the old saying goes what lives must die sorta
As another season comes to a end so must the Orchids at least until next year.
Yesterday when I misted them they were still beautiful as of this morning. Later in the afternoon I noticed my white orchids flowers now had become wilted very quickly I checked my calendar and sure enough it had been 8 -9 weeks of pure joy my orchid now was going into a resting period, see you next year.
My other one is still in full bloom for another week or two
THE RESTING PEROID HAS NOW BEGUN
This is my white Orchid and it was the first to go in a rest state, sadly one by one all 6 blooms had fallen off in 1 week. I now call them my bald babies.
This is the finished product once all the blooms have fallen off. I cut the spike half way down from end of the spike and cut above 1 inch above the node. I did this to one of my other orchids and a new flower spike grew from the node.
And This is what is left of my pink Orchid. Once you cut the spikes it is a good idea to melt a candle and put a drop or two on the fresh cut spike this usually stops infection .
